The SPACE is a former shop in the centre of Kendal now repurposed as community venue:
• A double-fronted shop with studio space above and a kitchenette and toilet
• A flexible space over 2 floors
• Available to rent part or whole - from 1 hour to 2 weeks
• Wifi access
• Reasonable rates
Shop (downstairs): 7.3m x 3.6m = 26 sqm
Studio (upstairs): 7.3m x 3.6m = 26 sqm
Kitchenette and toilet: an additional 2.7m x 3.6m = 9.5 sqm
The SPACE is here to
• Be a stepping stone for new ideas, small businesses, craft/arts events
• Support organisations that build community and wellbeing
• Help Kendal town centre flourish
• Increase the wellbeing of the people of Kendal and the surrounding area

When is it available?
It is available any time, 24/7 from as little as an hour to as long as two weeks.
Downstairs is used as a drop-in community space 9am to 4pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so is not available then – although it is possible to rent the upstairs studio space during these times.

How much is it?
Studio space upstairs is £10 per hour
Whole building 24hrs £100

What’s the idea behind it?
• The SPACE is a non-profit venue open to all.
• It combines the facilities of a community hall with a town-centre shop front.
• Downstairs is an open-house venue with free tea and coffee on Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am-4pm – anyone welcome to come in.
• The rest of the building is available to rent 24/7 to all ventures that are local – sustainable – creative – entrepreneurial – caring – supportive – ethical.
• It’s a charitable venture by the owners of the shop, Kendal Unitarian Chapel, to encourage community wellbeing and to support new ventures in Kendal town centre.
• All monies received go to the upkeep of the building and keeping it open.
